One of the problem of use VMWare is that the MacOSX version is not free. An alternative we can use VM VirtualBox.

1. Download and install VirtualBox for Windows or MacOSX following the package instructions. For more info consult the Manual.

2. Download the BioUbuntu virtual machine from the SGN ftp site. The file size is: 3.44 Gb.

3. Create a VM Folder in your system and copy/move the file there. Unzip it.

4. Open the VirtualBox program. Add the BioUbuntu virtual machine through Machine > Add, or simply in the Virtual Box Manager clicking the Add button.

5. Click Start and follow the instructions. The information for this machine is:

  • Name: BioUbuntu
  • OS Type: Ubuntu
  • RAM Memory: 1024Mb
